Most people do not realize that infants and children benefit from chiropractic just as much as adults. Infants, in particular, are susceptible to a wide range of ailments caused by a traumatic birth or c-section. Misalignments or subluxations put pressure on the spinal nerves and interfere with the body’s ability to coordinate or control phases of growth and development. Chiropractic care for infants can correct these misalignments and prevent them from becoming more serious problems later.

Children benefit from chiropractic care as a lot of the problems they experience as adults stem from their childhood. For instance, a child often falls when learning how to walk – sometimes up to 20 times per day. Children also break bones easily and have poor posture (something that is extremely common today).

Posture problems particularly result from spending many hours in front of a computer or television, playing rough with friends or carrying backpacks all day long at school. The most prevalent cause of problems, though, is sports, dance, cheerleading and gymnastics. All of these activities exert a tremendous amount of stress on the spinal column, which can result in misalignments that can cause pain and problems decades down the road.

It is best to deal with any potential injury, misalignment, postural problem or other ailment and condition as soon as it is identified. After all, the nervous system controls and coordinates every stage of growth and development; you should want to keep your child’s nervous system as healthy as possible through regular treatment.
